Uploading New Locations

How do I import a list of new locations to GapMaps? How do I import locations with metadata?

⚠️ ADMIN ACCESS REQUIRED⚠️

If you do not have Admin access, please reach out to client services via the chat icon or at clientservices@gapmaps.com for assistance.

 Before Getting Started:

 Make sure your location type has been created correctly by following this guide.
 
You will need to either need the addresses or coordinates of the locations you wish to import.

 

 Accessing Manage Locations

  • Click on the cog in the top right corner.
  • Select "Admin".
  • Click on "Manage Locations".
  • Under "Add locations", select "Learn More" to download a sample import sheet.
  • Once your sheet is configured, select "Add locations".
    • Make sure your import sheet has the same headers as the sample import sheet and includes latitude and longitude.
  • Select the Business Pool, Location type, and Country for the locations you're importing and upload your sheet.
  • Review the locations that have been uploaded and click "Submit" to save changes.
  • Once the upload is finished, you will receive an email and the locations will be visible in GapMaps.

 Adding New Locations with Metadata

Before you get started
To import metadata to pins, you will need to ensure the metadata fields have been created on your account first. Read the Adding Metadata Fields guide for more information.

 
  • Under "Add locations with Metadata", select "Learn More" to download a sample import sheet.
  • Replace the sample metadata columns in the sheet with the names of your metadata fields.
    • Note: These column headers must match the metadata field names exactly (including case sensitivity)
  • Once your sheet is configured, select "Add locations".
  • Fill the import sheet out with all relevant information
  • Select the Business Pool, Location type, and Country for the locations you're importing and upload your sheet.
  • Review the locations that have been uploaded and click "Submit" to save changes.
  • Once the upload is finished, you will receive an email and the locations will be visible in GapMaps.

TIP

To ensure the metadata field columns in your import sheet match what is in GapMaps exactly, we recommend exporting your locations as this file will include the metadata headers. You can then copy and paste these into your import sheet and fill the metadata out.
